Have you heard of Aquablazing?  Aquablazing is when Appalachian Trail thru-hikers kayak or canoe a portion of the trail.  Now you can have the chance to experience an Aquablaze along the Shenandoah River with a backdrop of skyline drive!

REV3Endurance is pleased to bring back the Shenandoah River Aquablaze.  This is a fun race that combines running and watercraft as part of your race route (kayaking for soloist/canoeing for 2 person teams). Participants will travel on foot (running or walking) 5 or 13 miles via well marked trail at Shenandoah River State Park. The estimated time to finish is 4-6 hours. We have a great course for you to run, paddle, and navigate your way around in an awesome area along the Shenandoah River and Andy Guest State Park. We’ll host the race out at Downriver Canoe Company in Bentonville, VA.  Parking will be walking distance from the race the event starting line.

The start and finish area is located at Downriver Canoe Company at the REV3Endurance Trailer next to Shenandoah River State Park. All racers should show up and check-in at least one hour before their race and attend the pre-race meeting before the race starts.

8:30 am: Load Buses for transport to watercraft launch area
9:00 am: Race starts at Compton Rapids
4:00 pm: All Racers off the course

Race Packet Pickup

Packet pickup location will be at Down River Canoe Company It is required that all forms be completely filled out and signed for each racer.  You will get your bib number, race t-shirt and review course map at packet pick-up. Insurance fees of $10.00 for each racer is required at race check-in.  These fees are required at packet pick-up.

Equipment Provided By REV3Endurance

All gear necessary for water portions of the race will be provided. This will include: Watercraft (Kayaks for soloist or canoes for teams), paddles, and PFDs.  Race maps, race passport and Rules of Travel will also be provided by REV3Endurance.

Mandatory Equipment (Responsibility of each team and\or Racer)

Rev3Endurance will not be checking in mandatory equipment. However, Rev3Endurance MAY randomly check that you have mandatory gear so please have the following mandatory equipment/gear with you to ensure your safety:

• Enough nutrition and fluid for the event

• Maps provided by REV3Enduramce will highlight the marked trail route for this race

• Rules of Travel provided by REV3Endurance

Low Water Bridge Campground is walking distance from the starting line at Down River Canoe Company. 

Post-Race Food

Food will not be served during the award ceremony after the race.  Please bring some beverages and snacks with you. REV3 will be offering sweet and salty snacks and beverages to the racers at the finish line.
 

Results

Unofficial results will be announced post-race with rolling awards and official results will be posted to our web site 24–48 hours after the event.
